History

The Long Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC, formerly the Nursing Home Community Coalition of New York) was formed as an ad hoc coalition in the 1970s on the heels of nursing home scandals in New York State. In 1982, because of a recognized need for a persistent watchdog and advocate for long-term care residents, LTCCC became a permanent coalition. It was incorporated in 1989. LTCCC's coalition membership includes consumer, civic and professional organizations, and individuals from across New York State. Over the years, LTCCC's work has contributed to improvements in the federal and state public health codes, historically significant regulatory reform, a landmark assisted living law, and upgrades in surveillance activities and enforcement systems on both the state and national levels.
